Celia Dowson

Celia studied Renaissance Sculpture in Florence focusing on techniques in sculpting the figure, she is a graduate from Central St Martins. Celia specialises in figurative sculpture. Her 'shadow' figures explore Carl Gustav Jung’s theories on the Collective Unconscious and the archetype of the ‘Shadow Self’. The hand carved sculptures are shaped by the idea of repression, self-recognition, and acceptance. They suggest through elongation their movement into a higher state of self-awareness.
