Brittany Delaney @ Maud and Mabel

Just in time for Christmas, we have received a delicate collection of new work from the talented Ceramic Artist, Brittany Delaney.

Brittany works from her Cheshire studio and explores the translucent quality and fragile effects that can be produced through the use of porcelain. Taking shape and form as a starting point she creates functional vessels and tableware considering simplicity alongside complexity.

Brittany describes her work as follows: 'By modifying the traditional technique of slip casting and carving into the plaster moulds, the commonly concealed casting seams are exaggerated and become a main focus of the design. The making processes are emphasised and highly refined creating handmade work of a high quality.'

The delicate translucent porcelain allows candlelight to flicker through the surface, enhancing the texture to beautiful effect after dark.
