Care: The pieces are finished with a food-safe eco hard wax oil which is very protective but we still recommend to wipe away any spillages straight away using a lint free cloth. (safe to hold a hot teapot but not pans etc)
This ceremonious piece balances the line between the sculptural and the functional; an altar on which to serve tea, a platform to display treasured objects, and a highly designed elegant artwork of its own right. The English oak's rich silky smooth surface has a delicately cut out shallow section, leaving two simple handles at either end, and giving the minimal object an intrinsically zen tranquility. As both a centrepiece and a serving board Pacha Designs have created a timeless and sophisticated work.
About the Artist:
Glenn Rushbrooke and Samantha Robb are a design/make partnership based on the North Devon/North Cornwall Coast, creating furniture, objects and interiors for considered spaces. Their work evolves from a simplistic approach to design and the materials that they use, combining pared down aesthetics with the Japanese view of wabi sabi, beauty in imperfection.
Glenn and Samantha carefully hand select their materials from locally sourced reclaimed and sustainable resources. They love the natural rawness of oak, stone and metal and use these elements to produce work that incorporates clean lines, abstract shapes and a modern aesthetic. By using reclaimed and sustainable “real” materials, no two pieces will ever be the same - some pieces having subtle differences, others being completely unique. Created with mindfulness and intention, all work is designed and made by Glenn and Samantha in their self renovated workshop & studio at Koa Tree Studios in Welcombe on the North Devon/North Cornwall border.
