Stunningly beautiful. Hand-thrown, subtle crackle-glazed plate with unique surface and poetic movement. This one-of-a-kind piece will be cherished for generations. Watery, Akiko describes her fossil plates as According to AH, she is reminded of buried and aged fossils which disappear and reappear on the earth's surface. Akiko's wood-ash glaze rests on top of the crackle engobe creating a watery surface.

Akiko Hirai graduated in ceramics at the University of Westminster and subsequently Central St. Martins. Akiko is fast becoming one of our foremost potters; having a huge following both in the UK and worldwide. Akiko works from her London-based studio as well as lecturing in ceramics.
