Handmade in UK

Fired to a little over 1300c in a kiln which is built in one of the old cart buildings on site, this vase is finished with a cream coloured glaze, made using wood ash from a weeping willow that stood in front of the old bottle kiln for almost 60 years.  The tree got too large and so was felled with the intention of turning it into a glaze using local materials.

Dimensions: W-12 cm x H-13.5 cm

Managed by Matt Grimmitt with the help of two other throwers, John Forster and Joseph Fuller Winchcombe Pottery is one of the longest running craft Potteries in the country. Dating back to 1800 it was an old country pottery using clay from the site and producing everyday wares for the surrounding towns and villages.

Michael Cardew took The Pottery on in 1926 and fired the pots in the old up-draught bottle kiln that still stands today. The Pottery now produces wood fired domestic stoneware pots, which are fired using local wood from a saw mill close to Winchcombe.

All of Winchcombe's pottery is suitable for use in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers.

As all products are handmade sizes and colour may vary slightly.
