Managed by Matt Grimmitt with the help of two other throwers, John Forster and Joseph Fuller Winchcombe Pottery is one of the longest running craft Potteries in the country. Dating back to 1800 it was an old country pottery using clay from the site and producing everyday wares for the surrounding towns and villages.
Michael Cardew took The Pottery on in 1926 and fired the pots in the old updraught bottle kiln that still stands today. The Pottery no produces wood fired domestic stoneware pots, which are fired using local wood from a saw mill close to Winchcombe.
